The Caravan 2000 movement was established in 1999. It is a European and Middle Eastern movement of individuals and organizations who stand for equal rights and social inclusion of all disadvantaged groups. The Caravan 2000 Federation’s members believe that diversity can enrich society and they seek to create intercultural understanding in all dimensions and spheres of human life and activity.
We initially came together to arrange a symbolic ride across Europe and the Middle East in the millennium year. The aim of this ride was to point at inequalities that still exist and at the predicament of specific groups across Europe that remain marginalized. In 2000 we established the international federation “Caravan 2000 International”, European Movement for Diversity and Understanding, an organization registered in Brussels. The federation’s members range over many European countries, Turkey and Israel and include organizations for people with disabilities, disadvantaged youth, service providers, advocates and others.
The value that our movement members share is that every human being is equal regardless of ethnicity, gender, religion, and abilities. We thus appreciate each person’s uniqueness. We base our activities on human rights, the paradigm of equal opportunities and the right to full participation in society.
